United monitoring Valladolid teenager - reports
Reports from Football Insider claim United have joined Arsenal and Newcastle in the race to sign Spanish prospect Ivan Fresneda from Real Valladolid. Fresneda, 18, has earned rave reviews for his displays this season and a selection of European clubs are said to be monitoring him.
It's understood that he has a release clause around the £8.8million mark.
Fresneda previously spent time at Real Madrid before moving to Valladolid.

McTominay open to Newcastle move - reports
Reports indicate Scott McTominay would be "open" to signing for Newcastle.
Speculation over the 26-year-old midfielder has been at fever pitch this season.
McTominay has only started six EPL matches and none since October.
Eddie Howe distanced Saudi-backed Newcastle from links to him, but follow-up reports from The Telegraph suggest that McTominay is "concerned" by his limited game-time this season and would be willing to depart Old Trafford before the January 31 deadline comes and goes.

Who is Sir Jim Ratcliffe?
With news breaking this evening of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's confirmed interest in a takeover of Manchester United, fans will rightly want to know who he is.

The billionaire is current owner of French side OGC Nice, as well as cycling team Ineos Grenadiers.

Partick Vieira urges Palace discipline
Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira has urged his side to show intensity and discipline when they welcome Manchester United to Selhurst Park tomorrow evening.
United travel to London knowing a tenth consecutive win in all competitions will take them above City in the Premier League table - albeit their cross-city rivals could claw back that deficit against Tottenham on Thursday.
Erik Ten Hag's side have come flying out of the blocks in 2023, with Saturday's comeback derby win proof of a huge change in mentality among the Red Devils.
And Vieira has echoed the point that United are a different side to the one of the past few seasons, admitting his side will need to produce a brilliant performance if they are to take anything.
When you look at their last couple of [United's] games, the number of wins and how close they are to the top, I think they can be [in a title race].
It’s a different United [to the one we saw last season]. What will be important for us is to play like we did against Chelsea: with a lot of intensity and with a lot of discipline.
At home, in front of our fans, if we manage to play the kind of game, we will have more chance of winning the game.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe interest
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has registered his interest in buying Manchester United. The 70-year-old, one of Britain’s richest men, has officially entered the bidding process to buy the club from the Glazers.
The billionaire had initially appeared to throw cold water on a sell-up by the Glazers, telling a conference hosted by the Financial Times last year: "I've met Joel and Avram and they are the nicest people, I have to say, they are proper gentlemen.
They don't want to sell it. It's owned by the six children of the father and they don't want to sell it."
However, it appears he has now performed a U-turn regarding a possible purchase of United after it was confirmed on Tuesday that he has officially entered the running to buy the club.
“We have formally put ourselves into the process,” a spokesman for the petrochemicals billionaire told The Times.

Harry Maguire loan
West Ham United are considering a loan move for Harry Maguire with Manchester United open to selling the defender at a considerable loss in the summer, according to the Mirror.
Maguire arrived at Old Trafford in 2019, the Red Devils paying £80million to Leicester City for his services. Despite enjoying a spell as the club's captain, the 29-year-old has been unable to replicate his form at the King Power Stadium or on international duty with England.
A constant starter and pivotal part of Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad over the winter, Maguire has started just one of United's four Premier League wins since. West Ham manager David Moyes is considering a number of options to replace Craig Dawson - potentially departing for Wolves - with a half-season loan for the Red Devils defender one possibility.
The report adds that Erik Ten Hag's side would be willing to sell the defender in the summer, despite an acceptance that any move will fail to recoup anything close to the £80million spent four years ago.
The MEN understands that both United and Maguire are happy with the current situation at Old Trafford, with the defender more inclined to stay and fight for his place.

Would you like to see this man start tomorrow?
With Anthony Martial doubtful for tomorrow's trip to Crystal Palace, should Wout Weghorst be handed a swift Manchester United debut tomorrow night?
The Dutchman was not registered in time to face City over the weekend, but started training with his United teammates on Sunday. And with eight goals in 16 games for Besiktas so far this season, he is fit-and-firing.
Would you start Weghorst at Selhurst Park tomorrow? Sign up and let us know in the comments!

Wan-Bissaka rumours
Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has poured cold water on speculation linking Aaron Wan-Bissaka with a move to the Emirates.
Wan-Bissaka looked set to leave Old Trafford this month, his three starts during the first-half of the season proof that Erik Ten Hag prefers Diogo Dalot. But a recent resurgence in form, helped in part by the injury to Dalot against Charlton, looks to have reintegrated the 25-year-old into United's plans.
Reports are still linking a number of Premier League teams with interest in the full-back, with fleeting mentions of Arsenal joining more heavy reports regarding the likes of Crystal Palace and Wolves.
But Parlour, speaking to Lord Ping, has rubbished such talk:
I don’t think Arsenal need a right-back. They have Tomiyasu, who’s an excellent player. I mean, when he first got into the side, everybody was raving about Tomiyasu. Obviously, he's had his injuries as well. But if he can get him back fit, there are two good right-backs in Ben White and Tomiyasu.
I see Wan-Bissaka has been given his opportunity again for Manchester United, he's done nothing wrong. But at the moment I don’t think Arsenal will be going down that road.

United 'open talks' for Dumfries
According to a report by TuttoMercatoWeb, United have 'opened talks' with Inter Milan about the prospect of signing right-back Denzel Dumfries.
The Netherlands international's contract at Inter expires at the end of next season, meaning the Italian heavyweights could be prepared to offload him in a cut-price deal this year. It is claimed that United have made a €40million (£35.3m) offer.

Weghorst in contention to make United bow
New loan signing Wout Weghorst could make his United debut against Crystal Palace tomorrow evening, manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed.
The Netherlands international joined United on loan for the remainder of the season last Friday but was registered too late to be in contention to feature against Manchester City the following day. However, he could make his first appearance for the club at Selhurst Park.

United 'open to offers' for trio
According to a report by Football Insider, United are reportedly 'open to offers' for Tom Heaton, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe in this month's transfer window.
United, it is claimed, are prepared to let the trio leave the club in a bid to trim their wage bill. Heaton made his full debut for the Reds last week, starting the Carabao Cup win over Charlton Athletic, but Jones and Tuanzebe have not made a single appearance between this season.

Henderson dealt injury blow
United goalkeeper Dean Henderson faces a four to six week spell on the sidelines with a muscular injury.
The shot-stopper, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, suffered the blow during Saturday's 2-0 win over Leicester City at the City Ground. He managed to play on until the full-time whistle despite being in obvious discomfort.
The The Manchester Evening News understands Henderson has been assessed this week and that scans have revealed the he has suffered a grade two tear in his thigh.

European giants 'keeping tabs' on Garnacho
According to The Independent, Juventus and Real Madrid are both keeping a watchful eye on United youngster Alejandro Garnacho.
It is claimed that Juventus have been 'looking' at him and that Madrid have been 'monitoring' him. United remain hopeful of tying him down to a new contract.
His current deal is due to expire in 2024, but he does have the option of an additional year.

United 'join the race' to sign Spanish youngster
United have 'joined the race' to sign Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda, according to a report by Football Insider.
The right-back, who is only 18, is considered as one of the most highly-rated players in Spain and is also attracting interest from both Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Valladolid are said to be 'resigned' to losing Fresneda this month, but fear his £8.8million release clause could be triggered this month.

United 'intent' on signing Vlahovic
According to a report by Italian newspaper Corriere Torino, as cited by The Faithful MUFC, United are 'intent' on signing Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the transfer window closing in a fortnight's time.
United have already strengthened their attacking options with the loan signing of Burnley ace Wout Weghorst this month, but it is claimed that they are still hungry to add to their forward ootions.
However, any move for Vlahovic seems unlikely, considering it has been reported that Juventus would demand €90million to part with him this month.

United aiming to negotiate five new contracts
United are aiming to consolidate their progress under Erik ten Hag by finalising key contract renewals this year.
United have already opened discussions with David de Gea, who is approaching the final five months of his deal, and Marcus Rashford will be offered an improved deal.
Rashford, 25, has scored 16 goals already this season after a dire 2021-22 campaign when it emerged he was open to leaving the club after he did not start the Manchester derby in March last year.

Dortmund 'enter race' to sign Elanga
Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Anthony Elanga on loan, according to talkSPORT.
It's understood Everton are interested in signing the young forward on loan, who has made just seven starts this term, but this fresh report suggests that Dortmund are also in the race.
Elanga has struggled for regular game time and he's not scored since February last year.

McTominay 'attracting Newcastle interest'
Newcastle have expressed an interest in Scott McTominay, according to The Telegraph.
The report claims McTominay is worried about a lack of game time under Ten Hag and that the Scotland international is widely liked by Newcastle’s management team.
It's said Newcastle will bid if they are offered any encouragement from Old Trafford to do so, while the report also suggests that McTominay is understood to be open to moving to St James’ Park.

Dortmund give update on Moukoko
Youssoufa Moukoko is out of contract in the summer and he's been linked with United.
"Youssoufa can accept this offer now and commit to Borussia Dortmund, or else there will be a parting of the ways," sporting director Sebastian Kehl told Kicker magazine this weekend about the player's future.
"I would wish that he chooses us because he hasn't yet completed his development and I see huge potential in him. But for us as a club there are limits."

How Ten Hag transformed United at every level
The renovated briefing room at Manchester United's Carrington training complex is dominated by a monochrome mural of matchgoers.
The room, with tiered seating at the request of Erik ten Hag, was hastily completed while United travelled to Thailand and Australia during pre-season. The message Ten Hag drums into the players with the image they are greeted with as they step through the door: play for the fans.
During the Manchester derby, Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Fred, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Harry Maguire engaged with the supporters. Others doubtless did, too.

United confident of new Rashford contract
United are confident of tying down Marcus Rashford on a new contract as discussions continue over a renewal.
Rashford, 25, is expected to receive an increase on his £200,000 weekly salary at United, who are reluctant to break the £300,000 barrier so one player does not earn significantly more than the others.
Midfielder Casemiro earns £300,000-a-week and although David de Gea inked a £375,000-a-week contract in 2019, his salary was slashed by 25 per cent for this season as United failed to qualify for the Champions League.

United in talks over Dumfries - reports
Reports claim United are in talks with Inter Milan over Denzel Dumfries.
Dumfries was a shining light for the Netherlands at the World Cup.
However, it appears as though the 26-year-old has a limited future at the San Siro.
Italian publication Tuttomercato suggest United and Chelsea are hoping to sign the player with £35million mooted as a would-be fee. Bayern Munich are also thought to want Dumfries, too, but they are not right at the front of the queue for his signature.
